Philosophy

Accent Architects believes that the design clues for a project lie within the attributes of the site and the functional needs and aspirations of the client. Approaching each project with no pre-conceptions allows the design solution to develop in its own way so as to create unique buildings with a strong sense of place. Accent Architects believes that the hallmark of great enduring architecture is not measured by a building’s initial impact alone, but also by how a building unfolds for a delighted client and an enthusiastic public over the long term.

Accent Architects believes that a great architectural practice needs to provide more than just design. Accent provides a full design management style service in the traditional manner in which architectural practices once operated. This traditional approach is coupled with technology – the practice’s recently completed PWC Tower Seismic Upgrade project has seen the practise at the forefront of technology with Building Information Modelling (BIM). This has been used throughout the project from concept and has been maintained during construction. This has mitigated risks (and cost) by identifying clashes with building/service/construction elements. Accent Architects have developed leading end project control solutions, which allows for access to project records from anywhere, and fast response times to contractor queries.  The approach is further developed on each subsequent project.

One of Accent Architects’ underlying philosophies is to focus on the allocation of risk away from the client, and an emphasis on safety throughout the project and beyond. Accent Architects does this through intensive site and material evaluation, as well as regular and comprehensive evaluation at each stage of the project.
